Today's police shakedown in Tuol Kork
Travelling in a car in Tuol Kork district's main road and the traffic police decide to stop all cars as they approached a set of lights. I counted six policemen, white gloves, white helmets and walkie-talkies, stopping all cars and demanding their drivers get out and walk over to a small table where one of their brethren was sat. His first word was "money." Upon refusal, his second word was "money" followed by "you have anything else?" Another refusal. We mentioned the name of a high-level military commander and he waved us on. There was no request for driving license or car papers whatsoever, just cash. You be the judge.
