Final goodbyes

One of the waiters snapped this picture of us at our La Residence meal
For our second and final evening in Siem Reap on Saturday, we headed to another of the 5* hotels, La Residence d'Angkor, to sample their set dinner and traditional dance performance. In a much more private and intimate setting, inside their Circle restaurant, we had finished our very tasty degustation dinner that included Khmer chicken curry when the performers appeared in a corner of the room to begin their four-dance show. They included three traditional folk-style dances and ended with an Apsara dance. Thanks to La Residence for hosting us. The following morning, Amansara pulled out all the stops to provide Rumnea with a birthday to remember, with a gorgeous birthday cake followed by a special blessing from a monk on the hotel lawn, which took her by surprise and one which she loved. Aman was a truly special place to stay for our weekend break and they certainly take customer care to a new level. Everything about our 2-night stay was first class. I can't thank them enough for their generosity. Before leaving Siem Reap, I had my first look at the revamped Shinta Mani hotel, with its contemporary and stylish chic design and met up with some friends at the Shadow of Angkor restaurant before catching the Golden Ibis bus back to Phnom Penh.
