Launch off

No, I will not be persuaded to edit another guidebook
Tonight's book launch at Monument Books for To Cambodia With Love went swimmingly well. I probably sent a few people to sleep with my prattling on but Nick Ray and Mariam Arthur kept the audience entertained and the overall verdict was a positive one. Great to see a nice mix of faces, both Khmers and foreigners, and the quiz together with the free nibbles from Blue Pumpkin got the session off to a good start. Half a dozen contributors put in an appearance, which was lovely because it's as much their book as it is mine. I'm as much a fan of speaking to audiences as I am in editing guidebooks, but it was fairly painless and the presence of lots of familiar faces certainly made it bearable.
Explaining the idea behind the book and my favourite essays
4 contributors or is it 4 musketeers? LtoR; Nick Ray, Mariam Arthur, me and Steve Goodman
Nick Ray will take any opportunity to try and sell his old Lonely Planet copies
Signing a copy for my good friends, Sokheng and her husband Warren
It was lovely to see Sophoin at the event after her recent illness; all's well now
Another book, another signature, this time for Bunlay
I was pleased to see this trio of Khmer ladies at the book launch. LtoR: Reaksmey, Rothany, me and Sinat

Congratulations! Book launches are so exciting, but nerve wracking, too. I'm so glad yours went well.
