David Chandler, the historian who has dedicated so much of his life to Cambodian studies and who gave expert testimony at the Comrade Duch trial earlier this year, has been speaking to Voice of America about the Duch verdict and the 2nd trial of the top 4 Khmer Rouge leaders still alive that should begin sometime in the new year. And, not surprisingly, he doesn't sound overly optimistic about what will take place. Read the question and answer session here. If you thought the Duch trial lasted too long (for what was effectively an open and shut case), then get set for a much lengthier 2nd trial.
