Cheshire cat

Who's the dummy impersonating a Cheshire cat?
The grinning idiot in the above photo is me. I'm very happy because my book, To Cambodia With Love, arrived today. I had to pay the post office for the privilege of receiving my copies and the package had been opened by customs, but I finally have the book in my sweaty palms. It's great to see the contributions from so many people who love Cambodia finally in print. I hope many of you who are as interested in Cambodia as I am, will buy it, either in a bookshop or online. It retails at US$21.95, is 242 pages long, has a bunch of colour photos and more importantly, is brimming with unique insights into this beautiful country. I wholeheartedly recommend it, but then again I would, wouldn't I. More. If you are a fan of Facebook, you can also become a fan of the book here.

Hi Sue, yes I'm just relieved its all over, its been so long in gestation that I was never sure it would see the light of day. But with lots of hard work by the series editor and myself, it's finally out there for all to read. I owe a massive debt of gratitude to my contributors and the ThingsAsian team.

Hi Dom, I hope Monument will stock it as long as they get the copies from the publishers. William at Monument has always been a great supporter of new books on Cambodia and he'll definitely carry it as long as the shipment arrives at some stage.

Congratulations, and good fortune to TCWL. I guess, almost certainly it will be a reference on Cambodia for a long time to come, and I have already ordered one from Amazon.
But I'm very curious to know what did you feel when you finally opened the long-awaited pack... - Charlie, NYC

Hi Charlie,
thanks for your support for TCWL.
I felt a mixture of excitement, relief and satisfaction. The book has been a long time in the making. I also thought the front cover wasn't the colour I thought it was going to be....and the book itself wasn't as thick as I'd expected it. So I had to do a quick check that all the 120+ essays that i'd submitted were in there...and they were. Sigh of relief.
It was my 1st look at the photos in the book as well and there were some really good ones by Tewfic El-Sawy. 3 or 4 of them are really excellent and I love the photo of the classical dancers doing their hair and make-up, ion comparison to the pose on the front cover.
Overall very very happy with the result. I'm a perfectionist, so I've read every word already and there were 1 or 2 very small slip-ups but in its entirety its essentially perfect.
Another sigh of relief.
