Top 10 adventures

The new Lonely Planet 7th edition for Cambodia will be out very soon. Nick Ray has been joined by Daniel Robinson and Greg Bloom in compiling the ultra popular guidebook this time around and it runs to just under 400 pages. Just to whet your appetite, the book opens with three separate Top 10's - ancient temples, the Cambodian tragedy in words and adventures. The Top 10 adventures as picked by the editors are as follows:
  • Make the overland pilgrimage to Prasat Preah Vihear
  • Beachcomb on the beautiful island of Koh Kong
  • Disappear for a week into the wildlife-rich forest of Virachey National Park
  • Paddle a dugout through the flooded forest of Kompong Pluk
  • Go underground at Kampot Province's cave pagodas
  • Ride the bamboo train in Battambang, Cambodia's local express
  • Camp out in the jungle at the temple of Preah Khan
  • See some of Asia's rarest large waterbirds at Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary
  • Mountain bike through traditional villages on the Mekong Discovery Trail
  • Penetrate the vast rainforests of the remote Cardamoms like an explorer of old.
I'll bring you the Top 10 temples and reading material another time.
